Abstract

Corporate governance is a fundamental pillar for ensuring the stability of Islamic banks and mitigating risks. In Libya, Islamic banking has gained increasing significance since 2012, prompting the Central Bank of Libya to issue regulatory guidelines to enhance governance, most notably the 2023 Governance Guide for Islamic Banks. This study aims to analyze the legal framework governing corporate governance in Libyan Islamic banks and identify existing gaps. The findings indicate a notable development in governance regulations; however, challenges in implementation remain. The study recommends strengthening oversight and enforcement mechanisms to ensure governance objectives are fully achieved
